Our Harvest Party's success was due largely to the wonderful help we received from the Five14 Church of New Albany. Two large groups of volunteers came out - one group helped harvest & prepare the garden the day before the Harvest Party, and the second group helped with the food preparation & serving along with more garden chores during the event.
We grew nearly everything in this meal in our garden. Abenaki Calais Flint Corn is an heirloom variety specialized for colder climates and is meant for grinding. We learned to soak the corn overnight, grind it to make the masa, and then form it into tortillas served fresh from the skillet. Black bean salsa for dipping, and black raspberries with cream for dessert. (We did not grow the cow that made the cream.)
